ON Semiconductor Buys Sound Design Technologies
Phoenix-based ON Semiconductor said this morning that it has acquired Sound Design Technologies, a Canadian supplier of DSP technology used for hearing aids and other audio processing applications. The deal was worth $22M in cash. ON Semiconductor said that it acquired Sound Design Technologies from an affiliate of Global Equity Capital, LLC. Sound Design Technology develops ultra-low-power, digital signal processing (DSP) technology which is being used for hearing aid and other size-constrained applications. SDT was originally a unit of Gennum Corporation.
