Mesa, Arizona-based Ulthera said Thursday afternoon that the firm has raised $22.5M in additional venture capital funding, in a round led by New Enterprise Associates. Venture investor 3i also participated in the funding. Ulthera is developing ultrasound medical devices for the aesthetics market. Chip Linehan of NEA will join the firm's board of directors along with the funding. Ulthera has developed a micro-ablation device for the cosmetic surgery market. Ulthera last raised a round of funding in December of 2005 from 3i. The funding brings the company's total raised to $28M.
