Novell has rolled out the latest version of its Linux distribution today, SUSE Linux Enterprise 10. Novell's open source operating system includes the popular Xen virtualization software, application security features, and a new pricing scheme. The new release is the first major release from Novell of SUSE since 2004. The new release now provides two enterprise subscription options, a mainframe or non-mainframe server option, and three different levels of support, and starts at $349 per server. The desktop version of the operating system is available at $50 per device per year, which includes 90 days of installation assitance. Novell has been promoting SUSE Linux as its means of growing its business and shifting away from its traditional Netware business.
