Novell renewed its focus on open source software, and launched SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 at Novell's annual Brainshare conference in Salt Lake City yesterday. The firm said that it will double the size of its Market Start program to help open source companies gain commercial success, as it launched its rebranded SUSE Linux Enterprise 10 Linux distribution. Novell's Market Start Program will provide access to Novell's sales and marketing channels to open source firms. Novell said that Alfresco, Black Duck, EnterpriseDB, SpikeSource, and Novacoast will join current participants that include SugarCRM, MySQL AB, Lumen Software, and others. Novell's upgraded Linux server product integrates Xen's popular open source virtualization package, which lets customers run multiple operating system images on a single server, along with a myriad of enhancements including support for Oracle Cluster File System 2, an integrated development kit, application level security software, and support offerings.
