Avnet Buys Computer and Electronics Repair Firm

Phoenix-based Avnet, the electronics distributor, said today that it has picked up the assets of Nexicore Services, a provider of computer repair and installation services. Nexicore was in Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and was based in Simi Valley, California. Financial terms of the buy were not announced. Avnet said Nexicore becomes part of its Avnet Integrated Resources business, which provides reverse logistics and after-market services to the technology industry. Avnet is hiring around 500 of Nexicore's staff as part of the acquisition.
