InPhase, Cypress Team On Holographic Data Storage
Longmont, Colorado-based InPhase Technologies, a developer of holographic data storage products, has tapped Cypress Semiconductor for a CMOS image sensor. Cypress said today that InPhase is partnering with the firm for the image sensor, as part of collaboration between the two companies. Cypress said that the firms have collaborated since 2005 to develop the ultra-sensitive and ultra-fast image sensor, used for high speed reading of data recorded by InPhase's holographic storage device. InPhase is a venture backed firm developing holographic data storage, which is expected to dramatically increase the density of information storage. The firm has received funding from New Venture Partners LLC, Signal Lake Ventures, Newton Technology Partners, Yasuda Enterprise Development, Japan Asia Investment Company, Nanotech Partners LLC, and Mr. B.J. Cassin, along with Hitachi Maxell, Ltd., Bayer MaterialScience AG, and ALPS Information Technology Fund.
