InPhase Reports Hitting Density Record

Longmont, Colorado-based holographic storage developer InPhase Technologies is reporting that the company has demonstrated 515 Gigabytes per square inch data storage densities. The company said that its techonology beats the current, 300 gigabyte per square inch density of existing magnetic disk drives. InPhase said that it will deliver its first drive and media later this year, targeting a range of 800GB to 1.6TB. Holographics storage is considered one of the frontiers in the data storage market, where increasing data storage requirements are driving need for better storage density. InPhase has been working on holographic data storage since its founding in 2000, and is backed by New Venture Partners LLC, Signal Lake Ventures, Newton Technology Partners, and others.
