Lyft Opens in Denver
Peer-to-peer ridesharing service Lyft has launched itself into Denver this week, letting smartphone users request rides in the city to locations around town. Lyft said that its drivers--who feature pink mustaches on their cars and "fist bump" customers--will operate until 1am on weekdays and 3am on Friday and Saturday nights. Lyft's ridehsaring service vets its drivers and provides them with insurance, and then lets users request a ride from a nearby driver. Users pay a "donation" to those drivers for their services. Lyft had its grand opening party last week, raising $5,000 for the Mile High Chapter of the Red Cross. Lyft's service is driven by its smartphone applications.
