As the unrest in the Middle East continues to push up gasoline prices nationwide, Denver-based
MapQuest, the online mapping site owned by AOL, is looking to push users to the site for its gas pricing tools. MapQuest operates its gas pricing site at
gasprices.mapquest.com, saying that the site helps drivers get information on the lowest gas prices within their area. The firm has been offering the tool for a number of years. The gas prices on Mapquest are one of the more unique offerings from the mapping site, which has seen a huge impact on its traffic due to competition from Google and Bing. Google and Bing do not offer native gas price listings on their map listings, although both have third party apps to add those prices to their map displays.
