The SCO Group, the firm which has been pursuing a long legal battle over ownership of Linux source code with Novell and others, said today that it is looking to sell "substantially all" of the assets of its UNIX business. The firm said the sale includes its UNIX system V software products and related services. SCO--which is currently in bankruptcy--said interested parties must submit a bid by the close of business, October 5, 2010. In a statement, Ken Neilsen, CFO of the SCO Group, said the asset sale is "an important step forward" to ensure business continuity for its customers. SCO Group has been in bankruptcy since September of 2007, after its intense focus on lawsuits against firms using Linux drained its coffers. The sale of SCO Group's UNIX assets is being managed by Ocean Park Advisors.
