The SCO Group Inc., a provider of UNIX software technology and mobile services, revealed today that the Savings Bank of the Russian Federation, also known as Sberbank, will upgrade more than 3,000 branch offices to SCO's OpenServer 6 UNIX operating system. SCO said it expects the rollout upgrade will eventually extend beyond the initial 3,000 branch offices. The Lindon, Utah-based company added that Sberbank has selected Business Console, an SCO "Premier Partner," to handle the deployment. According to SCO, Sberbank accounts for more than 25 percent of Russia's national banking assets and is the largest financial institution in Russia and Central and Eastern Europe in terms of Tier I capital and assets.
