Level 3 Communications Inc., a provider of fiber optic-based Internet, voice and transport services, reported Tuesday that it has hired Jeff Battcher as senior vice president of corporate communications. Level 3 said Battcher will be based out of its corporate headquarters in Broomfield, Colorado, and will report to Charles C. Miller, the company’s vice chairman. Battcher, Level 3 noted, will oversee media relations and all internal and external communications. The company said he hails from Delta Air Lines, where he held a similar role. Before that, Level 3 added, he spent 15 years at BellSouth handling various advertising, public relations, event marketing and regulatory affairs duties.
