Ancestry.com Used To Find Criminal Who Assumed Dead Baby's Identity
A family of a baby who died in 1972, using Lehi, Utah-based Ancestry.com, discovered that an escaped criminal had assumed the identity of the child--resulting in a arrest in Philadelphia on Monday. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, 44-year old Jon Vincent was arrested after the aunt of the dead child discovered through Ancestry.com that someone was impersonating the child. Federal officials said that Vincent, after being convicted in the state of Texas, escaped from a Texas halfway house in 1996, and soon assumed the identity of the deceased child, Nathan Laskowski. The Attorney General says Vincent now faces "a substantial period of incarceration", three years of supervised release, a $500,000 fine, and a special assessment.
