Gogo Gets Canadian In-Flight Spectrum Okay

International travelers who'd like to use the in-flight wireless service from Gogo, will be happy to hear that Gogo will begin providing its in-flight wireless services in Canada, thanks to an approval from Canada today. Gogo, which has operations in Broomfield, Colorado, said that Industry Canada has granted the firm a subordinate license for Canada's air-to-ground radio frequency, which will make it possible for the inflight Wi-Fi service to provide its services when flying over Canada. Gogo said its Canadian network will use the same frequency as its existing, air-to-ground (ATG) network in the U.S., and should be in operation by the end of 2013. The approval is also good news for Aircell, the business aircraft travel service run as Aircell out of Broomfield, which will also use the same network for its business customers.
