Aircell Powers Air Canada Trial

Air Canada is tapping Broomfield, Colorado-based Aircell for an in-flight Internet service, the airline said Thursday. According to Air Canada, it has begun offering a trial of in-flight Internet service, on its Toronto-Los Angeles and Montreal-Los Angeles routes, which will allow its customers to email, work, and surf the net while flying. Air Canada said the trail would run through January 29th, after which the carrier will analyze usage and customer feedback before introducing the service on other routes. Air Canada is using Gogo Inflight Internet, Aircell's Wi-Fi service for commercial carriers. Air Canada said wireless access will be offered at a cost of US $9.95 per flight for a laptop, or $7.95 per flight for a personal electric device. The initial trial will tap Gogo's existing U.S. network, with plans to roll out a Canadian network as Air Canada extends it system to Canadian routes.
