Cool Energy Gets First Customers
Boulder-based Cool Energy, a startup developing Stirling engines to provide both solar heat and electricity from the same system, said today that it has received its first two customer orders. The firm said that it has gained two European institutional customers for its systems, including the DiGeSPo project hosted at an Italian research institution, the Bruno Kessler Foundation (FBK) of Trento, and an un-named, European equipment supplier providing stand-alone power systems. Financial details of the wins were not disclosed. Cool energy said that the FBK's system is installed at the Hilton Hotel in Malta. Cool Energy's system combines both solar energy and solar thermal features, balancing production of heat and electricity depending on weather and season.
