Ascent Solar Team Gets DARPA Award
Thornton, Colorado-based Ascent Solar Technologies, a developer of thin-film solar modules, said today that it has been selected by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) for an award. Ascent said the first phase of the contract from DARPS is worth $3.8M, and is focused on demonstrating low-cost, lightweight photovoltaics (PV) with an efficiency of 20% or greater. The award was made to a team that not only included Ascent, but also Littleton, Colorado-based ITN Energy Systems, Cambrios Technologies Company, Brew Science, QinetiQ North America, and the Institute of Energy Conversion. Ascent did not say what portion of that award will be specifically allocated to the firm.
