Ascent Solar Spins Up Solar Power Competition

Thornton, Colorado-based Ascent Solar, the developer of flexible, thin-film photovoltaic technology, said Monday that it is sponsoring a design competition for college students. Ascent said it is sponsoring the Innovative Solar Design Competition for the 2011-2012 school year. The competition will pit college teams against each other to develop designs using Ascent's flexible photovoltaic modules, and will award $10,000 in cash prizes for the winners. Ascent said it hopes the competition will spur new uses of its portable solar power products.
