Ascent Solar Expands Board, Adds New Members

Alternative energy specialist Ascent Solar Technologies Inc. announced Thursday that it has expanded its board of directors to include seven members, up from five. Ascent said the increase is pursuant to a shareholder-approved agreement with Norsk Hydro, which purchased a 23-percent stake in Ascent in March. Ascent Solar added that Dr. Amit Kumar and Einar Glomnes will occupy the newly created seats. Kumar is president and chief executive officer of Combimatrix Corp., while Glomnes heads Norsk Hydro's solar division. Norsk Hydro will also select a non-voting individual to attend Ascent's board meetings, Ascent said. Headquartered in Littleton, Colorado, Ascent Solar Technologies develops thin-film photovoltaic materials and modules.
