Intermap Targets Air Navigation Effort
Denver-based Intermap Technologies, a provider of 3D mapping data, said today that its NEXTMap digital elevation data is being qualified by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). According to Intermap, the data is being used as a part of an advanced terrain and obstacle solution, being used to help avoid terrain obstacles in air navigation, as part of the ICAO's eTOD (Electronic Terrain Obstacle Data) initiative. Intermap said its process for collecitng its dataset is currently undergoing certification by the FAA. The firm said the effort is expected to increase the safety of flights for crew and passengers, both in the U.S. and Europe.
