Intermap Hits iPhone App Store

Denver-based Intermap Technologies, a provider of digital mapping products for GIS and other uses, announced this morning that it has gotten an application approved on Apple App store. Intermap said its AccuTerra App provides iPhone users with detailed maps covering the contiguous United States and Hawaii, including special national and state parks. Intermap's app uses GPS navigation to show map content on the iPhone, and is targeted at recreational outdoor enthusiasts such as hikers, bikers, climbers, and others. The app gives topographic information about areas. The firm is charing $0.99 for the app, and is using the iPhone OS 3.1 features to allow users to purchase map coverage on the fly. Specific bundles of mapping information cost $.99 to $2.99 for users, and work even without a network connection.
