Aircell To Benefit From American Airlines Fleet Moves

An announcement today by American Airlines that it is ordering 35 new, Boeing 737-800's, is poised to benefit Broomfield, Colorado-based Aircell, a provider of wireless Internet access for the aviation industry. Aircell currently powers American's wireless services on its 7373s, via its consumer Gogo Internet brand. No details on when those new planes--and wireless services--will be deployed, however, American said the planes should begin arriving in 2009, and that all of its 737s will be equipped with the Gogo Inflight Internet service. Aircell's operations are split between Broomfield, which primarily has the firm's business aviation operations, and Illinois, which houses its GoGo Internet and Commercial Aviation headquarters.
