Vericept Gets Patent

Denver-based Vericept, a developer of data loss prevention software, said yesterday that the firm has received a patent for core technology for its data loss prevention system. According to the U.S. Patent office, the patent, No. 7,315,891, was granted on January 1st; the patent, entitled "Employee internet management device" names Thomas P. Donahue as inventor, and was originally filed in January of 2001. Vericept President and CEO Dave Parkinson said in a statement that the patent "clearly differentiates Vericept from other DLP vendors in the market place." Vericept is venture backed by Globespan Capital Partners, Sequel Venture Partners, Sigma Partners, Visa International, and William Blair Capital Partners.
