Virtela Rolls Out Accelerated WAN Service

Networking services provider Virtela Communications Inc. revealed Thursday that it is now providing its clients with an accelerated WAN service. Virtela explained that the new offering is a suite of services that can boost application and protocol performance by a factor or two or three on average—and as much as 30 times faster in certain cases. WAN acceleration devices compress and use other techniques to improve the transmission and response of data sent from remote sites and over wide area networks. Virtela's offerings include both WAN acceleration hardware as well as access services and last mile connectivity. Virtela Communications Inc. is headquartered in Denver and provides network connectivity, consulting, and other communications services.
