Virtela Deploys VPN In Asia
Denver-based Virtela, a developer of secure networking software, reported Wednesday that specialty fastening manufacturer PennEngineering has deployed Virtela's managed Virtual Private Network in Asia to link its private network across three continents. Virtela explained that it designed PennEngineering's network for high availability; employing DSL for the backup network, Virtela will provide automatic failover across multiple carriers. Using this network, PennEngineering was able to successfully complete a business-critical rollout of the JD Edwards ERP applications suite, Virtela noted. Headquartered in Danboro, Penn., PennEngineering operates manufacturing facilities and key sales offices in North America, Europe, and Asia. In addition to its Denver headquarters, Virtela also maintains a second network operations center in Mumbai, India.
