Quest Software Upgrades Policy Tool, Taps Vintela Technology
Aliso Viejo California-based Quest Software has released a new version of its Windows policy manager, Quest Group Policy Manager. According to the company, the 2.5 version of its tool improves the notification system, troubleshooting, and management of Unix and Linux environments. Quest's Group Policy Manager is used to manage Microsoft Active Directory software policies. The Unix and Linux support comes from Quest's recent acquisition of Vintela, a Lindon Utah-based provider of platform integration systems in June. Quest paid $56.5M in cash for Vintela, whose Active Directory tools extended management to Unix, Linux, Mac, and Java-based systems. Quest Software is a developer of enterprise management tool software.
