TheraDoc Used In Antibiotics Study
Salt Lake City Utah-based TheraDoc, a provider of medical informatics software targeted at decision support for physicians, said this morning that it has provided the technology behind a published study in the Journal of the American Medical Association. The company's software was used in a study funded by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), targeting the misuse of antibiotics for viral infections, fostering the proliferation of "super bugs" or antibiotic-resistant organisms. The study, conducted by researchers at the University of Utah and other universities in Idaho and Utah, found that clinical decision support systems like Theradoc's could be used to improve antibiotic prescribing for acute respiratory tract infections. TheraDoc's software is used for improving physician decision making by using medical data collected by doctors.
