Webroot is now officially part of
Carbonite, a provider of online, cloud-based backup and data protection. The deal, which had
been announced in February, was worth approximately $618.5M in cash. According to Carbonite, the deal will allow it to provide "complete data protection" for customers. Carbonite funded the deal with a combination of cash on hand, plus a new, $550M term loan. The company said that its Webroot business unit will be led by former Webroot CFO John Post, who will become SVP and GM of Webroot.
