Boulder-based bandwidth provider
Zayo Group Holdings reported today that it has signed a new "webscale" customer for its Reno to Umatilla route, which it is currently constructing. Size of the win was not announced, and neither was the customer's name. Zayo had
announced the route last month, saying it would connect Umatilla, Oregon with Reno, Nevada, helping to add anotherroute between Portland, Oregon and other cities on the west coast. Both Umatilla and Reno are becoming popular locations for operating data centers; Umatilla is the
home of a number of Amazon data centers. Reno is the site of an Apple data center, a data center run by Switch which
was reported to possibly be the largest data center in the world, and a
massive data center owned by Rackspace.
