Gogo Business Aviation, the business arm of in-flight wireless provider Gogo, said today that it has launched a new, high throughput satellite service, called Gogo Ku. According to Gogo, the new service utilizes its existing, Ku-band satellite network, which is currently being used by 550 commercial aviation aircraft across 10 airlines. Gogo Business Aviation said it expects the new high speed service to be available in the second half of 2018. Gogo said the satellite features will be a complement to its existing, 4G air-to-ground network. Gogo said the new service requires a new, tail-mounted antenna, and hardware which is compatible with its Gogo AVANCE platform.
