New CU-Boulder EIR Program Looks Overseas For Entrepreneurs
Colorado--which has had a huge upsurge in its startup community over the last few years--has seen significant success in bringing entrepreneurs from across the country to become part of that community--and is now looking overseas. the University of Colorado Boulder said this week that its Silicon Flatirons Center for Law, Technology and Entrepreneurship is launching a new Entrepreneur-in-Residence program, specifically to attract entrepreneurs not just domestically, but also from around the world. The effort--being spearheaded by Brad Feld, who has been key to the region's growth as a startup center--will allow four entrepreneurs from around the world to work on campus for up to 20 hours of work, with a stipend of up to $25,000 per academic year. The effort means that noncitizens will be eligible to apply for an H-1B visa, since they will be sponsored by CU-Boulder as an employer. The program looks like it has a high possibility of further extend Colorado's--and particularly, Boulder's--success in becoming a magnet for entrepreneurs, not just nationwide but now globally.
