MapQuest Ties With TomTom On Map Data
Denver-based mapping site MapQuest, which is owned by AOL, is in a technology deal with mapping provider TomTom, the two said late last night. According to the companies, TomTom will power MapQuest's core map data, giving MapQuest users access to TomTom's digital map database. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. TomTom said that the data will be presented across both MapQuest.com, as well as smartphone and tablet iOS and Android apps. MapQuest said the addition of TomTom's digital mapping data will help provide "best in breed" mapping experience to its users.
