Gogo Powers New Inflight Entertainment Upgrade On Alaska Airlines
Alaska Airlines said today that it is upgrading its inflight entertainment options, tapping services from Gogo to ramp up the number of movies, television shows, and content available to travelers on its flights. Alaska Airlines said it is investing $100M to upgrade cabins of its 737-800, -900 and -900ER aircraft with new seats and a new system called "Gogo Vision", which lets customers use their own laptops, tablets, and smartphones to access entertainment content. That system comes from Gogo, which has major operations in Broomfield, Colorado, offering up in-flight Internet and entertainment to both the commercial and business aviation market. Alaska Airline said it expects to start offering the new, inflight entertainment systems starting this fall. Gogo is also behind Alaska Airlines' extension of Wi-Fi connectivity in Canada, which came thanks to Gogo's earlier announced approval of its Canadian air-to-ground network.
