Englewood, Colorado-based satellite television operator
DISH Network has scored a major, Internet video streaming deal--potentially the core of a new Internet-only service for company--with
The Walt Disney Company. According to the two companies, they are in a long term distribution agreement which will give DISH customers access to Disney's sports, news, and entertainment content across all of their devices, including smartphones, tablets, gaming consoles, computers, in addition to TV. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The companies said the expanded deal give DISH rights to linear and video-on-demand content from the ABC-owned broadcast stations, ABC Family, Disney Channel, ESPN and ESPN2. The deal also includes a clause which disables DISH's AutoHop ad skipping technology for that same content.
