Brad Feld Boots Up Startup Experiment In Kansas City

Toto, we're not in Boulder anymore. Brad Feld, the venture capitalist and co-founder of TechStars, said Wednesday he's launched an experiment in Kansas City: he's purchased a house, which he's going to turn over to entrepreneurs to live and work in for a year. Feld said he purchase the home--which he won't live in--in Kansas City, because of its link to Google's high speed fiber project, Google FIber. Feld said he will let entrepreneurs live in the house, rent free, as part of an effort to help create the Kansas City startup community.

Feld said the effort is being run along with The Kauffman Foundation, and will let five winners live and work in the house for a year, rent free, to see what happens. The startups will be selected by Scott Case (Startup America), David COhen (TechStars), and Lesa Mitchell (the Kauffman Foundation). The new house apparently is near to two other, similar efforts in Kansas City, the Homes for Hackers and KC Startup Village--all focused on boosting entrepreneurship in Kansas City.
