Boosting the data storage industry's presence on the Front Range, Japanese firm
Hitachi Ltd. is planing to open up a new research and development center in the Meridian Corporate Center in Douglas County, according to Colorado officials Friday. Hitachi's data storage unit,
Hitachi Data Systems (HDS), said it is adding about 200 jobs in the location, within the next year. HDS is a major provider of enterprise storage systems. HDS joins such companies as NexGen Storage, SolidFire, Spectra Logic, Dot Hill, Rebit, HP, and many other storage companies in locating in Colorado. The area has a long history in the storage industry, with such companies at StorageTek, Compaq, Sun Microsystems, and others running their enterprise storage groups in the state.
