Flash-based storage provider Fusion-io has added support for the Linux operating system with its ioTurbine virtualization caching software for VMware, the company said today. The firm said its software, which helps cache data for virtual machines running in a VMware environment, now supports both Microsoft Windows guest operating systems and Linux guest operating systems running in a VMware environment. The software redirects I/O to flash storage to accelerate operation of those virtual machines, particularly while moving those virtual images using VMware's vMotion capability. The company said the software is the only one that supports both Linux and Windows guests simultaneously.
