Salt Lake City-based solid state storage developer Fusion-io has upgraded its storage caching software, ioTurbine, with an eye on the virtualization and virtual machine market. The storage developer said the upgrade of its ioTurbine software allows administrators enables such functions as hypervisor caching, virtualization-aware caching in the guest VM, dynamic reallocation of cache memory during live migration of virtual machines in VMware. Fusion-io's software uses algorithms to try to determine an application's most immediate data requirements, and make sure htose are in cache--which significantly improves the performance of applications. Fusion0io's software works with a variety of the company's storage systems.
