Apex Microtechnology Gets $26M For Spinout
Tucson, Arizona-based Apex Microtechnology said this morning that it has received $26M, to purchase its product line from Cirrus Logic and create the company. The new company said the acquisition of the Apex Precision Power was funded by a group of private investors led by Alerion Capital, and creates a new, stand-alone corporation. Cirrus Logic had acquired Apex Microtechnology, the firm's predecessor, in 2007. Apex Microtechnology said it will continue its operations in a facility in Tucson, which includes 50,000 square feet, a 20,000 square-foot Class 5 clean room, and more than 80 full time and part time employees. The firm is focused on designing high power, analog components, including power and pulse width modulation (PWM) amplifiers, used for motion control and other applications.
