The Breakaway Group, a developer of web-based technology used for training healthcare provider of electronic medical records (EMR) software, has been acquired by IT outsourcing firm
ACS, a subsidiary of Xerox. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. The Breakaway Group, headed by Charles Fred, develops cloud-based software which trains healthcare workers on EMR software such as Allscripts, Cerner, Epic or McKesson, without jeopardizing real patient data on actual systems. ACS said that Breakaway's team and employees will remain with the company, and that CEO Charles Fred will become a managing director at the firm.
