ON Semiconductor, one of the many electronics firms with operations in Thailand, gave an update on the impact of flooding in that country, saying now that it believes its factory has been "severely damaged" by the floods. The firm said its SANYO Semiconductor division's facilities in the Rojana Industrial Park in Ayutthaya, Thailand has been severely damaged in the flooding there, and believes it will be unable to restart its operations for an "indefinite period." The firm said is has unable to enter the site due to flooding in the area. The firm had 160,000 square feet of production space and approximately 2,000 employees in the location. Other firms in Ayuttahaya -- including Western Digital, Toshiba, Seagate, Nidec, Hutchinson Technology, and others have all reported damage in industrial parks in Ayutthaya.
