MapQuest Launches Android App
Denver-based MapQuest said this morning that it has launched an Android mobile phone application, which includes turn-by-turn directions, voice-guided navigation, and more. The firm--which already offers an iPhone version of the app--said the app supports allowing drivers to search for destinations by voice; ability to locate restaurants, gas stations, coffee shops and other points of interest; both walking and driving directions; and live traffic flow. The new app also ties into the OpenStreetMap (OSM) project, allowing users to update information about maps via their phone.
