Ping Identity, the developer of single sign-on tools for the enterprise, said Thursday that it has added new connectors to its service, which allow companies to authenticate users using consumer sites like Facebook, Google, Yahoo, and AOL. The firm said its new PingFederate Cloud Identity Connectors allow companies to rely on social networking sites and other cloud service providers for third party user authentication. Ping's software is used to allow companies to adopt single sign-on, the use of a single username and password to access any number of corporate software resources. Ping is leveraging the OpenID standard for the consumer support; OpenID provides a standard way to do third party user authentication.
