Novell has been acquired by
Attachmate, a Texas firm developing IT management software, in a deal worth $2.2 billion, Attachmate said this morning, According to Attachmate, it will pay $6.10 per common share in cash for Novell, which makes a wide range of systems management software. Attachmate itself is owned by private equity firms Francisco Partners, Golden Gate Capital, and Thoma Bravo. As part of the deal, the companies said that Elliott Management Corporation, one of Novell's largest shareholders, will become an equity shareholder in Attachmate. No details on how the acquisition might affect Novell's presence in Utah was announced.
