Speculation Swirls Around Oracle, Novell
The rampant speculation over a possible takeover of Novell by Oracle continues today, as Novell's CEO said in conference calls that he would like to work closer with Oracle. Larry Ellison, CEO of Oracle, said Monday in an interviewed published in the Financial Times that he would consider buying Novell to get access to Novell's Linux distribution. Novell maintains the SUSE Linux distribution and software. The rumors come after Red Hat's acquisition of JBoss, a major Oracle rival. Messman declined to comment on rumors in the conference call on the firm's acquisition yesterday of e-Security.
