ON Semiconductor, a developer of semiconductors used for electronics power management, said Thursday afternoon that it is in a move to invest $15.7M in its Pocatello, Idaho wafer manufacturing facility. According to ON Semiconductor, it is planning to install $15.7M in production equipment in the facility during the next six months, which is on top of an earlier, $11M equipment expansion it announced in June. ON said the deal will secure current jobs in the location and lead to additional hiring. The firm did not say how many new jobs it intends to add at the location, where it currently employs approximately 635 people. ON Semiconductor said it was supported in the expansion by Idaho Governor Butch Otter, the Bannock County Board of Commissioners and the City of Pocatello.
