Infinite Power Solutions, a developer of solid state, rechargeable, thin-film energy storage devices, said today that it has raised $20M in a Series C funding round. The round was led by existing investors D. E. Shaw Ventures, Polaris Venture Partners and Core Capital Partners. New investor Generation Investment Management also participated, as did Applied Ventures and two, un-named strategic investors. According to Infinite Power Solutions, the new funding will go towards expanding manufacturing capacity, global sales, and advanced research and development. Infite Power's solid-state, thin-film batteries are aimed at replacing coin cell batteries and supercapacitors. The firm has also previously received funding from Texas Instruments and In-Q-TEl.
