The Cleantech Open, a group which is running a clean technology business competition, said this week that it has awarded three winning teams in the Rocky Mountain Region. The winners, New Sky Energy, Rivertop Renewables, and SunTrac Solar, all scored $50,000 in cash and in-kind services. The group also said it gave Cool Energy a Sustainability Award for the Rocky Mountain Region. New Sky Energy, in Boulder, captures and converts carbon dioxide into feedstocks for glass, plastic, building materials, and other products; Rivertop Renewables is based in Missoula, Montana, and is developing products built from renewable plant sugars; Suntrac Solar, based in Golden, Colorado, develops high temperature solar collectors. Cool Energy is also based in Boulder, and has developed a clean heat and electrical power generation system for homes and small buildings, which uses solar heat as an energy source.
