Vericept, a provider of data loss prevention software, has been acquired by Trustwave, a provider of security and payment card industry compliance management software, Trustwave announced Thursday. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Vericept's software help prevent the loss of confidential data from companies via the Interet. Trustwave said the buy would help it address multiple requirements of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). Vericept was venture backed by around $36.8M in funding from Globespan Capital Partners, Sequel Venture Partners, Sigma Partners, Visa International, and William Blair Capital Partners.
