Ping Identity, a developer of software tools used for single-sign on, has added new secure web services features to the latest revision of its product. Ping said that its PingFedreate 6.0 tool--used by businesses to allow for "single-sign in" to multiple Internet applications with a single username and password--has been extended to include secure, web service and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) transactions. SOA and web services (usually based on XML) are application programming interface standards used to communicate between different web and Internet-enabled applications. Ping Identity said that the new support for web services will allow its customers to share identity information between web services, and to help aid business process integration.
